I’m almost positive the rest of it wouldn’t have happened if I hadn’t been dangling off a hotel balcony with my lady parts in the breeze. I never should have gone commando in that dress. All that said, this was solid overall and the kind of sassy, sexy read I was looking for. Let’s just say that it felt like the hero put his business first, even at the end. It wasn’t until the lukewarm ending that my 4-star rating was cemented. This straddled the line between 4 and 5 stars for me for much of the story – there’s too much internalization and some inconsistencies, but I enjoyed the vast majority of the book. Cox’s continued insistence that he’s “not the marrying kind” got a little old after awhile, but I really did like him. I liked both characters and I loved the chemistry between them their shared history makes this a richer story. ![]() There are plenty of laughs along the way and some steamy moments to heat things up. ![]() This was such a fun, low angst, easy read – just what I wanted. Add in a business trip to Vegas, a little too much alcohol, and a marriage license, and these two find themselves in over their heads. Cox doesn’t seem to remember Sophie and that ticks her off, but it doesn’t diminish the spark between them. When they run into each other years later (in one of the most unique meet cutes I’ve read), there’s definite attraction. Back when they were pre-teens, Cox used to pull Sophie’s pigtails and was generally a pain in her butt. The story follows Sophie and Cox, two people who haven’t seen each other for years. Our hero made me want to shake him a few times, but I liked this the whole way through, despite a few things that bugged me along the way. ![]() There’s obvious chemistry between these two, and I was rooting for them from the start. It plays up the tropes, starting with an extremely memorable meet cute before moving into a Vegas wedding and a “fake” relationship that stirs up all kinds of real feelings. I love a light, sexy, feel good rom com, and this is definitely that.
